 T Shirt Screen Printing
Article by Damian Sofsian

A t-shirt is a style statement, which lets a person wear one’s attitude. Many prints are available and can cater to all moods and occasions. Theme t-shirts are usually used to denote patronage to a certain team, occasion or corporate. Increase in demand of custom-made clothes is a major reason for the growing popularity of t-shirt screen printing business.

The process of t-shirt screen printing involves multiple steps. First, the design to be imprinted on the t-shirt is selected. The design is then imprinted on the screen. This screen is placed on the fabric and paint is forced through the screen, onto the fabric. There are various methods to create the screen used in the printing process, each having their own pros and cons.

The print selected for the t-shirt should be eye catching and self-explanatory. The print maybe bold, artistic or witty, depending on the purpose one...

 Multifaceted Woodcraft Store
Article by Keith Londrie

A Woodcraft store is a storehouse of woodcraft items - gift articles and furniture - catering to collectors as well as the common man. Exquisitely carved wooden pieces have long been captured the imagination of humans. The innumerable woodcarvings that adorn the imperial palaces of the yesteryears stand testimony to man's passion towards creative handicraft works. Although, those days of royalty and imperialism are long gone, the zeal for handicrafts has seeped into all strata of society, and the number of households that have woodcraft in their decor is on the rise. No wonder, woodcraft is a burgeoning industry world over.

A woodcraft store is much more than a showcase of woodcraft pieces. Instead, it extends to encompass other aspects of wood crafting as well. A standard woodcraft store is considered as a one-stop destination for most type of wood crafted articles. By and larg...

 Collecting Vintage Playing Cards
Article by Glyn Farber

Since their initial development, the history or origin of playing cards have been associated with gambling, fortune telling, magic and games. They appear to have evolved from the use of natural objects such as bones and shells. Playing cards appeared in France in the late 1300s and the standard suit symbols used in the United States today, spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs, were first designed by the French. These four suits signs or symbols originally represented the four divisions of society, royalty (spades), clergy (hearts), merchants (diamonds) and peasants (clubs).

Collecting very early vintage playing cards of the 1400 to the late 1800s is out the question for the average collector due to price and availability. However playing cards of the early 1900s and vintage playing used in the last 50 years are not out of the reach of today’s collectors.

To many people, c...

Collecting Glassware For Pleasure And Profit
Article by Alison Stevens

Collecting glassware can be a richly rewarding past-time. Glassware can be both beautiful and practical and bring joy to its owners and to those who see it. Plus you can often use items from your collection in your everyday life, therefore gaining even more pleasure from your glassware collection. You can collect antique glassware through to modern glassware.

Whether you are collecting glass for personal pleasure or purchasing as an investment, always remember the collectors mantra: Condition, Condition, Condition. The value of each piece of glass is in direct proportion to the condition of the item. The only exception to this rule would be if the glassware was a one-of-a-kind piece or extremely rare example of a particular technique. Even then, you would expect to purchase the glassware at a substantial discount. Common items rarely sell well in damaged condition.

 Creating a Scrapbook Layout
Article by Audrey Okaneko

You began with 1000 photos. You chose a theme and picked out 100 photos to put into your scrapbook. You chose an album and bought some supplies to create your pages.

Now what? Now it’s time to put it all together, and begin creating your layouts. If you’re like me, just looking at the supplies and knowing the choices can be overwhelming.

I’ve found the easiest way to work on a scrapbook is to work on just one page at a time, or a two page layout (side by side), not really thinking about the finished product.

Although many of my scrapbooks appear to be complete, I know that I might find another picture that I want to add, so I never really consider my scrapbooks “done”. In addition, over the years folks have mailed me pictures. For example, some friends were going through their own photos and found a really cute photo of my daughter taken when she was 5 (she is now 16...

Using A Word Processor For Scrapbook Journaling
Article by Audrey Okaneko

When it comes to journaling in our scrapbooks, many of us look for alternatives to old fashioned pen and paper. I know I’ve used stickers and diecuts to help write my message. I find just pen and paper sometimes are not quite what I want.

Next time you want to journal, but don’t wish to handwrite, consider using your computer and a word processor.

There are so many ways to use a word processor to manipulate text. The very basics are to open a word document, type your text and then alter the font and sizing to your liking. You can also shade and underline words in a simple text document.

Both Microsoft Word and Word Perfect have a feature called “word art”. In Microsoft Word, go to the “insert” column in the top menu. Click on “picture” and then “word art”. In Word Perfect, again go to the “insert” column in the top menu, then click on “graphics” and “text art”.

 Grade Your Coins
Article by Jason Martin

To the novice, it might seem like one coin is as good as the next. However, that’s just not the case. To determine value of coins of the same type, grading is performed. Basically, grading is the process that determines the condition—and the value—of the coin being looked at. The grade of a coin can wildly affect its value. Years past, Dr. William Shelby devised the 0-70 scale system for grading coins.

Today, this code is combined with letters to create a great coin grading scale that anyone can follow. In the remainder of this article, I am going to share with you nine different grades for coins. We will start with the best possible grade and work our way down from there.

The best possible grade is MS, which means Mint State. Actually, the MS grade has a numerical range from 60 to 70. An MS coin is perfect in every way and uncirculated. You don’t find MS-70 coins, you buy...

 Knife and Sword Collecting
Article by Mario Chompass

The knife has come to symbolize to the modern men the essence of survival and the ability to provide all that is needed for survival with one simple and lethal tool. A good knife is indeed better than most material things, it can provide protection and the ability to hunt and prepare food, it can also help in building a shelter and creating small objects that are vital for survival.

A few generations ago, maybe even less than a hundred years ago, men would not leave their house without a proper knife, it was only common sense to take a knife with you wherever you went, you never knew into what situations you will run into, if you will get lost and will need to survive for a couple of days in the wild or if you will be surprised by some enemy or thief and will need to protect yourself.

For those of us that know knives it is a simple fact that no one knife can have all the f...

 Getting Crafty with Old Clothes
Article by Adele Sweeney

When money is tight, you have to be resourceful. But, being resourceful also teaches your children to recycle, be creative and use their imagination, 'thinking out of the box' at an early age!

If you have clothes that are a bit dull and uninspiring, or that are too worn and torn to send to charity, put them to good use! Create something new from old AND keep your children entertained for free at the same time.

Applique-style Designs

You can jazz up boring clothes and bring them to life by decorating them with bits cut out of your old clothes: use fabrics with patterns and textures and cut out shapes, words, flowers etc. If you are lucky enough to have access to a Sizzix or other type of die cutting machine these are excellent for cutting out some brilliant designs. You can sew the shapes directly onto your item, and 'rough' stitches can often look better, ...

 Collecting Vintage Calendars
Article by Glyn Farber

A calendar, like a watch is a system of telling time, typically days, weeks, months and years. Calendars are often a physical device usually made of paper. Vintage calendars can be classified into hanging calendars, postcard calendars and mechanical postcard calendars. So what makes a vintage calendar such a desirable collectible? The answer is usually the illustration, advertising or both.

As a form of advertising, calendars have been around since the early 1900s or earlier. Major corporations such as Coca Cola have been using calendars with advertising slogans to help sell their products for a very long time. A bright blue 1946 Coca Cola calendar with large yellow numbers at the top and the image of the Sprite Boy head has a value of $700.00. An earlier Coca Cola calendar dated 1926 with the image of a pretty girl tennis player and holding a glass of Coke has a value o...

 Embroidery Machines
Article by Jennifer Bailey

Creativity, imagination, and hands and finger skills are the keys to unlocking the success of embroidery. This art form started during the early times as a means to put designs on bare pieces of fabric by sewing or weaving pieces of threads to come up with a certain design or pattern. Anyone has to go through the painstaking process of needlework to produce the desired work of art. It was first done by drawing figures or any desired pattern on the fabric which will serve as the guide as to what types of stitches or threads were to be used.

The same creativity and imagination the paved way to the invention of embroidery machines which can be traced back in 1800s through Joshua Heilman who laid the foundation of the embroidery machine industry. It was later on followed by more advanced embroidery machines that made use of the shuttle embroidery and chain stitch embroidery methods...

Art can be seen in everything that man does, ranging from his everyday duties and tasks to complex art forms and fields. The clothing that man uses to protect himself from the effects of his environment can also be transformed into a work of art. Embroidery is the fascinating cloth art that involves the use of needles and thread.
